This roller buckle has an eye in the tongue for a lock or security cable. The roller helps the strap move through as you tighten it.
- Bags and luggage: Use the eye to secure a fastened strap on a motorcycle bag, backpack or piece of luggage.
- Collars and harnesses: The buckle also suits BDSM accessories that need a lockable fastening.
- Breaking load: Up to 150 kg for the stainless steel version (40SS LT). This is not a recommended working load. We have no figure for the zinc alloy version (Z40-LT). Zinc alloy is weaker than stainless steel, so where the buckle carries load, choose the stainless version.
- Preparing the hole: We recommend the #3778-09 oval punch for the strap opening.

A specification can tell you plenty. The workbench tells you the rest, so that is where I test it.
This buckle is a technical standout. The eye on the pin works as an excellent mechanical safety feature – even without a lock, the pin sits much more securely in the strap hole thanks to the eye. Its full potential, however, comes into play when paired with a small padlock.
Keep a few details in mind during production:
To ensure the pin eye passes smoothly through the strap, we recommend using an oval punch. It’s a good choice for easy fastening without unnecessarily stretching the material around the pin.
Also note that once fastened, the entire eye of the pin must extend above the material so a lock can be threaded through it. We recommend leather with a thickness of around 3 to 3.5 mm. If the material is too thick, the eye will sit too deep and you won’t be able to pass the lock through.
For the eye with an inner diameter of 4.8 mm, choose a padlock with a shackle thickness of up to 4 to 4.5 mm to ensure sufficient clearance.
