Parameter guide

Belt Buckles: what the parameters mean and how to choose the right values.

Inner width indicates the passage size for a strap or belt. Choose hardware with an inner width equal to or greater than your strap width.

Prong diameter of the belt buckle – must match the hole in the belt. A thicker prong better resists bending during daily buckling and unbuckling.

How many prongs the buckle has. One is enough for a normal belt or collar; two spread the pull on a wider strap and keep it straighter, but call for two rows of holes. A value of 0 means a buckle without a prong, closed some other way.

The dimension of the whole piece, end to end. It tells you how much room the fitting takes on the finished item; whether it fits the webbing is decided by Inner width. The whole piece is measured, not just its working part, so two pieces with the same inner width can differ in length.

A structural or shape variant of the same piece: with a lock or without, plain or patterned, all-metal or combined. Variants usually share the dimensions and differ in handling and looks, so you can swap the version without changing the rest of the hardware.
