Panic Snap Hooks – what to choose?

Panic snap hooks are a common accessory on leashes and harnesses. They let you detach a horse or dog from the leash quickly: just pull the safety in the direction of the arrow on the snap hook.

Parameter guide

Panic Snap Hooks: what the parameters mean and how to choose the right values.

The dimension of the whole piece, end to end. It tells you how much room the fitting takes on the finished item; whether it fits the webbing is decided by Eye width. The whole piece is measured, not just its working part, so two pieces with the same eye width can differ in length.

Inner width of the snap hook eye – determines the maximum width of material you can thread through. Choose an eye the same width or slightly wider than your strap, rope or leather lace.

Gate opening indicates how wide the snap hook opens. It determines the maximum diameter of the ring or D-ring the hook can clip onto.
