Spike Rivets: what the parameters mean and how to choose the right values.
The height of the spike above the leather once set. The taller the spike, the more it shows on the item, but also the more easily it catches on fabric or fur.
Tip diameter defines the size of the working part of the riveting tip. Select it according to the rivet type used.
The length of the prong that goes through the leather and is bent over or riveted on the back. It has to be longer than the leather you set it into, otherwise there is nothing to bend; too long a prong shows through on the grain side. Prong diameter has a parameter of its own.
Tip diameter – determines the size of the hole the tip creates when riveting into the material.
