Snap Fasteners — what to choose?
To many, riveted four-piece snaps are known as glove snaps. Snap fasteners are used to join fabrics of varying thickness and strength, terry, knit, leather or canvas. They can also be used to join fabric with solid materials (wood, cardboard, or plastic) or to join more than 2 pieces of material in one place.

What the parameters of snap fasteners mean and how to choose the right values.
The button diameter indicates the visible size of the snap fastener after riveting. Choose it according to your product’s design and proportions so that the button appears balanced.
The shank length (height of the button’s lower part) defines the material thickness suitable for the button. Choose a shank slightly longer than the material thickness (about 1–2 mm) to ensure proper closure during riveting.
Shank diameter is the thickness of the rivet section passing through the material and directly determines the joint strength.
The range of material thickness (leather, fabric, webbing) the snap button is designed for.
Up to 2 mm – thin leather, fabric and webbing.
2–4 mm – standard saddlery leather.
Over 4 mm – heavy leather and multi-layer joints.
Up to 2 mm – thin leather, fabric and webbing.
