Chicago Screws: what the parameters mean and how to choose the right values.

Indicates the depth of the threaded post. Choose it according to the material thickness – ideally about 2 mm shorter than the total thickness.

The outer diameter of the threaded post indicates the hole size that needs to be made in the material for it to pass through.

Head diameter defines the size of the visible part of the Chicago screw and the surface area that transfers pressure into the material.

Indicates the length of the male screw that threads into the post. For a secure fit, tighten 2–3 turns and use thread-lock adhesive if needed.

The number of pieces in one selling unit. Small hardware is not sold singly but by the pack, so this figure tells you how many rivets or eyelets you get. Use it to compare prices between items as well, rather than the price per pack.
