Chicago Screws – what to choose?

Chicago screws join leather or webbing so you can take the join apart again at any time, for example to swap the buckle on a belt or collar. Each screw has two parts: a hollow post with an internal thread that works as a closed nut, and a screw that tightens the join. Choose the length by the total thickness of the material you are joining. The post length (value B in the variants table on each screw's product page) should be 2 mm less than the total material thickness.

Parameter guide

What the parameters mean and how to choose the right values.

Indicates the depth of the threaded post. Choose it according to the material thickness – preferably about 2 mm shorter than the total thickness.

The outer diameter of the threaded post indicates the hole size that needs to be made in the material for it to pass through.

Head diameter defines the size of the visible part of the Chicago screw and the surface area that transfers pressure into the material.

Indicates the length of the male screw that threads into the post. For a secure fit, tighten 2–3 turns and use thread-lock adhesive if needed.

How many Chicago screws come in one pack. Brass and stainless steel screws are sold in packs of 10, the rest in packs of 100, so compare prices per screw rather than per pack.

Yes, the smallest quantity is one bag of rivets or 100 snaps. We don't offer smaller packs.

  • Rivets and Chicago screws are sold in bags. Most bags contain 100 pcs, bags of rhinestone rivets also 50 pcs, and bags of eyelets and cap rivets usually 1,000 pcs. Brass and stainless steel Chicago screws and some double cap rivets also come in bags of 10.

  • Snap fasteners and button studs are sold individually, from 100 pcs of one type.
