Paracord – what to choose?

Paracord, also known as parachute cord, is an indispensable material for any adventurer, craftsman or outdoor enthusiast. Thanks to their durability, flexibility and light weight, they can be used in a wide range of situations, from making handmade jewellery, to creating durable leashes or dog collars, to emergency use in the great outdoors.

Parameter guide

Paracord: what the parameters mean and how to choose the right values.

The overall length of the finished piece or of the coil. On leads and cords it is the length you work with; the unit is part of the value, so coils are given in metres.

Cord diameter specifies the thickness of the paracord. It affects strength and compatibility with end fittings and buckles.

The colour of the version. On webbing and rope it is the colour of the material, on hardware the colour of the finish. A shade on a photo and on a screen differs from the real thing, so when reordering into a series already under way, compare by the name of the shade, not by the picture.
