The Fidlock metal magnetic fastener opens and closes with one hand, leaving the other free for the leash or the phone. The body is Zamak alloy with a palladium finish.

  • The magnet guides, the mechanism holds: Both halves pull together on their own and a mechanical lock secures them, so the fastener will not come open by itself, even during sudden movement.
  • Breaking load up to 100 kg: This is not a working load. Fidlock states that its metal fasteners are not suitable for safety-related applications, so on a leash or on the collar of a dog that pulls, use a snap hook or buckle made for the load.
  • Palladium surface: On a handbag, a backpack or a collar the fastener stays visible, so it doubles as trim.
  • Webbing up to 2 mm thick: Thicker material stops the fastener from seating and clicking shut.
  • Where it does not belong: Not for permanently damp or marine use. Mounting is specific, so plan for it while designing.
