Palladium

Surface finish

  • Look

    Matte silver

Satin or subdued silver tone without reflections. More modern and restrained than a glossy surface. Minor scratches and fingerprints are less noticeable.

  • Abrasion resistance

    High

Resists daily use even with active dogs. The surface holds its original appearance for a long time, even when in contact with straps, snaps or other hard surfaces.

  • Corrosion protection

    Very good

Strong protection even in humid and demanding environments. The material under the finish stays protected even with frequent water contact and adverse weather.

  • Nickel

    No

The finish contains no nickel in any layer. A safe choice for allergy sufferers and for products intended for direct contact with sensitive skin.

Damp conditions Outdoor use Handles typical outdoor conditions without issue — rain, mud, moisture, sweat. No need to dry or treat specially after every water contact.
Aging Stable Long-term holds its original appearance — colour, gloss and structure. Even after months of regular use it looks virtually the same as new.
Process Galvanic Metal layer applied by electric current in a bath. Even, thin and adhesive coating — the most widespread method for surface finishing of metal parts.

How palladium plating is made

An electroplated layer of palladium – a precious metal from the platinum group. No nickel.

What it gives the product

A cool silver tone, high stability and excellent corrosion resistance.

When to choose it and when not to

Premium pieces (such as the Fidlock mini buckle) and products for sensitive skin, where you want a silver metal with no nickel. A cheaper silver classic is nickel; a nickel-free alternative is stainless steel.

How it ages

Very stable – it keeps its tone and shine.

What it pairs with

Cool tones, grey and black leather.
