Saddlery Flat Loop – Brushed Gun Metal
A small detail that keeps everything together. The flat metal loop in brushed gun metal isn’t shy about showing up on the best belts, collars, or handbags. Makers who know that every loop matters will appreciate the refined shape and finish that matches buckles like a twin.
- Rounded shape – no sharp edges to scratch or spoil the look. Your products feel smooth and comfortable.
- Brushed gun metal – a surface finish that not only protects but, more importantly, looks fantastic. Each piece matches the same buckle finish, so everything works in harmony.
- Inner widths of 30, 35, and 40 mm – just the right options for different belt, collar, or handbag strap widths. No limits to your creativity.
- Zinc alloy – a material that’s tough and still looks good. Every gram (and there are only nine) adds strength without weighing you down.
A flat loop that keeps up with your ideas. And if you want everything to match like an orchestra, check out our belt buckles in the same finish.

Craft isn't just about feel – it's about understanding the material and the process. If it works in my workshop, it'll work in yours.
The keeper, sometimes referred to as a “loop,” is a small detail that matters more than it seems. Its main job is to “tidy up” the loose end of the strap behind the buckle so it doesn’t get in the way. The metal version is a standard in leathercraft – unlike leather loops, it won’t stretch over time, and compared to plastic, it delivers a more premium look.
Workshop tip: The key to success is choosing the right size. The inner width of the keeper should match your strap width as closely as possible. If it’s too loose, it will slide along the strap; if it’s too tight, threading the strap end through it every time you fasten it will be a struggle.
Material tip: For products exposed to extreme loads or saltwater, go for stainless steel. If you’re after a traditional look and natural patina, brass is the way to go. For design-focused accessories and a wider range of colors, zinc alloy is an excellent choice.
I evaluate objectively what others only guess.
