    Dark / black

    Black or dark graphite surface — matte, glossy or satin depending on the specific finish. Discreet, modern look that does not draw attention and suits virtually any strap colour.

  • Abrasion resistance

    Medium

    Handles normal everyday wear. At exposed points — where regular friction or contact with other metals occurs — traces of wear may appear over time.

  • Corrosion protection

    Good

    Reliably protects the underlying material during typical outdoor use — rain, dew, occasional wetting. May not be sufficient for permanently wet environments.

  • Nickel

    Yes

    Nickel is a direct component of the surface layer that comes into contact with skin. Not suitable for nickel allergy sufferers — can cause contact dermatitis in both the dog and anyone handling the product.

Damp conditions Outdoor use Handles typical outdoor conditions without issue — rain, mud, moisture, sweat. No need to dry or treat specially after every water contact.
Aging Gradually dulls Over time loses its original gloss and the tone changes slightly. This does not affect function, but the surface eventually does not look as fresh as at the start.
Process Galvanic Metal layer applied by electric current in a bath. Even, thin and adhesive coating — the most widespread method for surface finishing of metal parts.

How brushed black nickel is made

An electroplated layer of black nickel over a brushed base – the fine grain scatters reflections.

What it gives the product

A dark matte finish that hides fingerprints and small scratches from wear.

When to choose it and when not to

Men's belts and muted dark products. It contains nickel on the surface – for customers with an allergy, offer matte black or stainless steel instead.

How it ages

The matte finish is forgiving of small marks; on the edges of a strap the dark layer can wear through locally over time.

What it pairs with

Dark clothing and black leather; belt screws and keepers in the same finish for a matched set.
