Sprenger rotary hole punch pliers with a lever mechanism make working with thicker leather much easier. The lever action means you don't need to apply nearly as much force as with standard pliers, and the rotating head lets you switch hole sizes in seconds without swapping tools. You'll appreciate this especially when making belts, collars, and other leather goods where you alternate between different hole sizes.
Why choose these
- Six sizes without swapping tools: Just rotate the head and select 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, or 4.5 mm. The head locks firmly into position after rotating, so it won't spin during use.
- Less force needed: The lever mechanism multiplies the force from your hand, so you don't have to squeeze as hard. You'll notice the difference most when working with firm leather 3 to 4 mm thick.
- Replaceable drive punches: When one gets dull over time, simply swap it out for a new one. No need to buy a whole new pair of pliers. We offer replacement drive punches #55259 901 and a mounting wrench #55259 902.
When to choose a different tool
- Large holes in very thick leather: In material up to 5 mm thick, the pliers can punch smaller holes of 2 and 2.5 mm cleanly. For a 4.5 mm hole in leather that thick, you'll need to apply considerable force. In that case, we recommend using a hand hole punch and a mallet, which handle it more easily.
- Holes further from the edge: The pliers reach a maximum of 35 mm from the edge of the material. If you need to punch deeper into the surface, go with a hand hole punch, which has no reach limitation.
Important: This product is NOT SUITABLE for punching waterproof webbings or BioThane®. For these materials, we recommend using dedicated punching dies:
- Punches Ø 3–4 mm: for small holes for rivets and buckle tongues, minimizing damage to the webbing's load-bearing core.
- Punches Ø 5.2–6 mm: a 5.2 mm hole is intended for E10x5.2 eyelets, while a 6 mm hole is designed for E12x6.0 eyelets.
