You are here: Pet Hardware Leatherwork Tools Hand Press & Dies Copper Anvil for Press
A 19 mm copper anvil serves as the lower support pad for the #3990-00 hand press. When punching holes or shaping the ends of collars made from heavy leather or waterproof webbing, the steel punch eventually reaches the base after passing through the material. The natural softness of copper ensures that the cutting edge of the tool stays sharp, even under high pressing force. Compared to a hard steel backing plate, it significantly extends the service life of your tools.
The soft material naturally comes with wear over time. Steel tools gradually leave grooves and indentations in the copper surface. Once the working face is no longer flat, simply grind the anvil surface back to level. Eventually, replacement will be necessary to maintain clean and precise cuts through leather.
The shank has a diameter of 19 mm and is primarily designed to fit presses from our product range. If you plan to use it with a different press model, carefully measure the dimensions of your machine's lower seat before purchasing, as it may not fit all presses available on the market.
