Eyelets — what to choose?

Eyelets are used in haberdashery to reinforce a hole in leather or fabric and prevent it from being damaged when a cord, elastic or buckle thorn is pulled through. They are also often used as eyelets for tarpaulins.

Parameter guide

What the parameters of eyelets mean and how to choose the right values.

The eyelet height indicates the length of the barrel (the part passing through the material). For proper setting, choose a height roughly 1–2 mm longer than the material thickness.

The outer flange diameter defines the visible size of the eyelet after setting. It affects both the appearance and the grip strength. A larger flange distributes pressure better and reduces the risk of tearing — recommended for soft or multilayer materials.

Inner diameter of the grommet defines the hole size after pressing. Select it according to the rope or cord diameter.
