Double Prong Roller buckle

A welded steel double prong buckle with a roller, made from 7 mm wire. The 54 or 66 mm internal width is aimed at the widest straps you handle in the workshop: girths, harnesses, heavy belts and collars for large breeds. Stated load capacity is 450 kg.

Why two prongs here

• The pull spreads across two holes – neither one stretches as fast as the single hole under a one-prong buckle. The difference shows exactly where the strap stays under tension and gets adjusted under load.
• Roller on the bottom bar – the strap rolls over it instead of dragging across a fixed edge. On thick leather that means smoother tightening and less wear around the holes.
• 7 mm wire and welded joints – the frame has nowhere to give, with no play and no rivet in the stressed spots.
• Chrome-plated surface – smooth and easy to wipe down. For constant contact with salt water or manure, take the stainless version instead.

A double prong buckle needs two parallel rows of holes at the same spacing along the whole strap. The prong is 5.5 mm across, so punch the holes with a 6 mm hole punch #KEM/LSHP60. If the spacing drifts, one prong seats before the other and the fastening twists. For small straps up to 40 mm this piece is needlessly heavy.
