Pocket Notch Punch 17 mm

This 13 mm Craftool steel punch creates a shallow thumb cut in a single strike, making it easy to pull cards out of a wallet. It completely replaces the imprecise hand-cutting of small arcs with a scalpel. It produces a perfectly symmetrical, burr-free edge that is ready for beveling, dyeing, and burnishing straight away.

Material and Features

• Solid steel construction: unlike cheap punches made from softer alloys, the blade holds its sharpness and dimensional stability even during intensive batch production of passport covers and card holders.
• Shallow blade profile: the blade shape is designed specifically for the inner dividers of document wallets. Unlike standard belt punches, it does not create a deep semicircle – only a gentle, gradual arc.
• Clean and perpendicular cut: the wall of the punched leather remains intact, which significantly speeds up and simplifies burnishing the inner perimeter of the cut with a slicker.

Notes for Makers

• Designed for leathergoods leather: the profile and blade of this punch are sized primarily for thinner and medium-weight leathers used for the inner pockets of wallets.

Recommended Add-ons

• Wax #2015-00 and a cutting board #3464-00 for maximum protection and longer blade life. We recommend using a polyurethane mallet #3303-11 to avoid damaging the striking surface of the tool.
