Saddlery Flat Loop – Brass

Code: 4951B/17
Availability: In Stock 11,775 pcs

A small detail that keeps everything together. The flat metal keeper is the element that sets premium craftsmanship apart from the average. It serves as a durable loop to secure the loose end of the strap. Manufacturers who understand that details matter will appreciate its refined shape and finish, perfectly matched with buckles like a twin set.

  • Material: Brass Sand Casting – a material that does not deform, stretch, and retains its shape throughout the product’s lifetime.
  • Finish: Polished – designed to match the rest of the hardware in our range.
  • Rounded shape: No sharp edges that could damage the material or spoil the overall impression. Your products will look clean and feel comfortable to wear.
  • Smooth operation: The inner space is precisely engineered to allow the strap to pass through smoothly while still holding it firmly in place.

TIP: Brass naturally oxidizes and darkens over time – it’s not a defect, just the metal reacting with air. You can restore its shine with #SITOL300G paste. To prevent darkening, apply the clear lacquer #637005/GLOSSY.

Craft isn't just about feel – it's about understanding the material and the process. If it works in my workshop, it'll work in yours.

The keeper, sometimes referred to as a “loop,” is a small detail that matters more than it seems. Its main job is to “tidy up” the loose end of the strap behind the buckle so it doesn’t get in the way. The metal version is a standard in leathercraft – unlike leather loops, it won’t stretch over time, and compared to plastic, it delivers a more premium look.

Workshop tip: The key to success is choosing the right size. The inner width of the keeper should match your strap width as closely as possible. If it’s too loose, it will slide along the strap; if it’s too tight, threading the strap end through it every time you fasten it will be a struggle.

Material tip: For products exposed to extreme loads or saltwater, go for stainless steel. If you’re after a traditional look and natural patina, brass is the way to go. For design-focused accessories and a wider range of colors, zinc alloy is an excellent choice.
