EXTREME Leather Balm is a reinforced wax-care formula developed for users who demand uncompromising performance in the harshest climates. It’s based on the proven recipe of the Universal #BNK/200g line, but with a higher lanolin content that helps the protective components stay present throughout the leather’s structure for longer.
With its high concentration of natural waxes and fats, this balm is an ideal choice for hunters, motorcyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts whose leather gear is regularly exposed to extreme moisture, mud, snow, or frost. It creates an extra-strong hydrophobic shield that keeps working reliably even under long-term stress in bad weather.
Recommended application: Apply with a sponge or cloth to clean, dry leather. For maximum effect and deeper penetration into the pores, we recommend gently warming the leather before application (e.g., with a hair dryer) or applying the balm in a warm environment. Once absorbed, wipe off any excess. Thanks to the high concentration, a very thin layer is enough.
Not intended for suede or nubuck. On lighter shades of leather, we recommend testing first on a hidden area to make sure there’s no unwanted color change.
If the Universal version is for everyday wear, then Extreme is for leather that really takes a beating outdoors. If you are heading into snow, salt, or all-day rain, this is the right choice. Thanks to its high lanolin content, the balm is thicker, so warming the leather - or at least your hands - is practically essential. Heat helps the firm waxes soften, allowing them to penetrate much deeper into the pores of the material.
Personally, after application I leave boots or heavier straps in a warm place (but never directly on a radiator!) so the leather can absorb the balm calmly and evenly overnight. The leather itself will “tell” you when it has had enough – once a layer remains on the surface without soaking in, the material is fully saturated.
This is not for a delicate evening handbag, but for hiking boots, motorcycle gear, or horse tack. After treatment, the material becomes supple and gains outstanding resistance to water.
Tip from practice: If your boots are starting to let water in through the seams, massage the balm directly into the stitching and joints with your finger. Extreme creates a wax seal there that holds up even in heavy slush.
