Eco-Flo Easy Carve – Leather Softener (Concentrate): 236 ml

Code: 2621-02
Availability: In Stock 8 pcs

A specially developed, low-VOC water-based solution designed for professional leather preparation before carving, tooling, and wet forming.

It conditions the water so it soaks into the leather faster and penetrates deeper into the fibers. The leather becomes more pliable, responds better to tool pressure, and holds the ideal moisture level for much longer than when using plain water.

Key features for makers:

  • Smoother cuts: Significantly reduces friction for swivel knives. The blade glides more smoothly through the material, making it easier to cut clean, precise curves without snagging.
  • Crisper, deeper impressions: Softened fibers accept stamps more readily. The resulting impressions are sharper, deeper, and keep their definition even after drying.
  • Longer working time: Slows the leather’s natural drying, giving you more time for detailed work without constant re-wetting.

Recommended application: This is a concentrate and must be diluted with water. The standard mixing ratio is 1 part concentrate to 10 parts water. Apply the solution with a sponge to the grain side of natural vegetable-tanned leather and let it absorb. Start carving and tooling once the leather’s color begins returning to its original shade. The solution is also ideal for wet forming.

Craft isn't just about feel – it's about understanding the material and the process. If it works in my workshop, it'll work in yours.

I personally tested this concentrate, and the difference compared to plain water genuinely surprised me. The improvement is most noticeable when cutting with a swivel knife – it does not drag in the leather at all and glides perfectly smoothly, which is exactly what you need for clean, precise curves.

Thanks to the solution, moisture penetrates deeper into the fibers, allowing the leather to stay workable for much longer. This is invaluable when working on larger patterns, as you do not have to constantly reach for a sponge and re-moisten the material.

Just make sure you catch the right moment for stamping. After applying the solution, allow it to absorb properly and wait until the leather begins to return to its original color while still feeling cool to the touch. That is when the fibers are best prepared to hold a deep and crisp stamp impression.

The recommended 1:10 dilution ratio is a time-tested standard that I strongly recommend following.
