Forget about stiff, cracked leather. This round rope combines the traditional look of premium leather leads with the uncompromising durability of modern PVC. It is an ideal material for manufacturing leads and halters that are not afraid of mud, water, or demanding terrain.

Craft isn't just about feel – it's about understanding the material and the process. If it works in my workshop, it'll work in yours.
Working with round PVC rope requires a different approach than with standard webbings. Since the material has no textile sheath, conventional stitching is not recommended – a needle could compromise the structure of the material and the joint might tear out under load.
How to create a strong loop? The best method is to use wire rope clamps. Simply thread the rope through the clamp, form a loop, and compress the clamp firmly (using a press or vise). For a clean finish, I recommend covering the connection with a rubber sleeve or color-matched heat shrink tubing.
Professional finishing: To give the lead a flawless look, I recommend fitting the loose ends with rope end caps. These are placed onto the cut end and secured with Loctite adhesive. Not only does this conceal the cut edge of the material, but by matching the end cap color with the snap hook and clamp, you create a premium product that looks excellent and offers long-lasting durability.
