Scissor snap hook 62 mm/8 – Chrome Plated
One move, one click – done. The snap hook with a clamp mechanism lets you attach or detach a leash in a second, even if your hands are full, your fingers are wet, or you’re holding your dog back. The speed and simplicity that leash makers for hunting dogs and sports gear are after.
- Lightning-fast one-handed operation – whether you’re out in the field or at the training ground, you won’t waste time wrestling with your hook. Just squeeze, clip, go.
- Swiveling round eye – your leash won’t twist, and rope, round leather, or webbing won’t get tangled, which you’ll appreciate especially in the woods or during pulling sports.
- Surface finish (chrome plated) – the hook stands up to rain, mud, and winter, and if you give it a bit of care, it’ll last for years. The surface might pick up a few scratches, but the mechanism keeps running smoothly.
This hook is built for tough use: hunting leashes, pulling sports, or gear for hunters where quick reactions matter. But if you need a safety lock against accidental opening, go for a different hook with a locking mechanism.
Important: Always check before use that the jaws of the hook close fully and aren’t clogged with mud or sand. Dirt can reduce the reliability of the connection – and that’s the last thing you want on a hunting trip.
Surface finish: Chrome plated

Craft isn't just about feel – it's about understanding the material and the process. If it works in my workshop, it'll work in yours.
With scissor snap hooks, it is worth considering details you will not find in a catalog but will notice in real-world use. Metal is naturally heavier than plastic, so a snap hook on a leash may occasionally make a slight clinking sound, which can feel unusual for more sensitive dogs. Also keep in mind that the surface finish will develop a patina and minor scratches over time – when exposed to sand or small stones, this is a normal characteristic of metal components, not a defect.
To ensure the lever mechanism continues to operate smoothly, I recommend periodically removing any dirt and treating the snap hook with a drop of preservative oil (e.g. WD-40).
I evaluate objectively what others only guess.
