This buckle is a technical standout. The eye on the pin works as an excellent mechanical safety feature – even without a lock, the pin sits much more securely in the strap hole thanks to the eye. Its full potential, however, comes into play when paired with a small padlock.
Keep a few details in mind during production:
To ensure the pin eye passes smoothly through the strap, we recommend using an oval punch. It’s the ideal choice for easy fastening without unnecessarily stretching the material around the pin.
Also note that once fastened, the entire eye of the pin must extend above the material so a lock can be threaded through it. We recommend leather with a thickness of around 3 to 3.5 mm. If the material is too thick, the eye will sit too deep and you won’t be able to pass the lock through.
For the eye with an inner diameter of 4.8 mm, choose a padlock with a shackle thickness of up to 4 to 4.5 mm to ensure sufficient clearance.
