This Kemovan set looks absolutely premium on the workbench, but don’t be fooled by the design alone – it’s a true workhorse. The handle feels noticeably thicker, which is a huge plus in terms of ergonomics. It sits perfectly in the hand and gives you complete confidence with every strike.
I was slightly concerned about the small set screw clamping system at first, because these tiny little things tend to disappear into the carpet before you can say ‘stitch,’ but fortunately the manufacturer includes a spare. A major advantage, in my view, is the stand itself – the punches are stored cutting edge up, so you can instantly see the diameter and the edges don’t get dulled by resting against anything.
Pro tip: Why do I recommend beeswax?
What I appreciate most, though, is the material’s durability. Workshops are often located in garages or basements where humidity is higher, which is why I strongly recommend running the cutting edges through beeswax regularly. It’s the best prevention against corrosion, even though wax is not included in the package. This ritual isn’t just for show; it helps the punch glide through leather effortlessly and saves you a lot of extra effort.
My recommendation
Keep in mind that this set is designed exclusively for genuine leather. Do not use it on synthetics or waterproof webbings. You would only be putting unnecessary strain on these finely sharpened punches and dulling them very quickly.
