Leather Oil Emulsion (Heavy Duty): 1000 ml
UNIVERSAL Oil Emulsion is a highly effective regenerative treatment that combines the nourishing benefits of leather oils with the protective function of natural beeswax. This water-dilutable blend is designed for deep softening, restoration, and care of leather that needs its inner structure and flexibility brought back to life.
Thanks to its emulsion form, it penetrates evenly into the collagen fibers without leaving the heavy greasy film typical of pure oils. It’s an ideal choice for maintaining and renovating saddlery, equestrian gear, work boots, and robust leather goods anywhere the goal is to keep the material supple and prevent cracking.
Key features for makers:
- Deep nourishment: The emulsion efficiently carries oil components into the material’s inner structure, loosening stiff fibers and restoring the leather’s natural mechanical resilience.
- Beeswax content: Once absorbed, the natural wax gently conditions the grain side, helps even out the surface, and creates a basic protective layer.
- Adjustable application: Fully water-dilutable, so you can fine-tune the level of oiling depending on the leather’s absorbency and condition.
- Versatile use: Suitable for targeted application with a sponge or brush, as well as full immersion (bath) of parts for industrial production or demanding restoration work.
Recommended application: Shake the bottle thoroughly before use. Apply to clean leather with a sponge, brush, or by dipping the item into a bath. Let the emulsion absorb fully and allow the leather to dry naturally at room temperature. Once dry, the surface can be buffed with a soft cloth.
For complete care and a water-resistant barrier, we recommend finishing with a final layer of UNIVERSAL Balm #BNK/200g after treating with the emulsion. This combination gives the leather deep nourishment sealed under a protective wax layer.
Not suitable for suede or brushed leathers.
Caution: This product must not be exposed to freezing temperatures. Check suitable shipping conditions.

Craft isn't just about feel – it's about understanding the material and the process. If it works in my workshop, it'll work in yours.
An oil emulsion is what I call a “smart oil.” It is the ideal choice for those who are concerned about over-oiling leather with pure neatsfoot oil. Thanks to its water content, the nourishing components penetrate the leather structure gradually and more evenly.
My tip for immersion treatment: If you are making straps or cases and want to be sure they are nourished all the way through, a bath in the emulsion is the best approach. Submerge the leather briefly, remove it, and let it “breathe” until the next day. The suppleness you achieve this way is on a completely different level compared to simple surface application.
Dilution: Do not be afraid to experiment with diluting it with water. For regular maintenance, a weaker concentration is sufficient; for old, “petrified” leather, use the emulsion undiluted.
Dyeing: Because this emulsion also contains beeswax, it may affect how evenly certain dyes absorb. In my experience, alcohol-based dyes still work after treatment with this emulsion, but for complete certainty and a flawless result, I recommend dyeing before applying the emulsion, or allowing the leather to rest for a proper amount of time (at least 24 hours) after oiling so the surface layer can fully stabilize.
I evaluate objectively what others only guess.
