UNIVERSAL Leather Balm is a time-tested, highly concentrated product designed for complete protection and long-term preservation of all smooth leather goods. Thanks to its unique blend of purely natural ingredients with no added water and no synthetic preservatives this balm is the absolute foundation of leather care wherever maximum durability and longevity are required.
The formula is exceptionally stable: the natural ingredients don’t oxidize, which means the balm has virtually unlimited shelf life. It’s an ideal solution for waterproofing and protecting a wide range of products, from equestrian tack and motorcycle gear to leather furniture and footwear made for demanding conditions.
The balm is suitable for all leather products: car seats, motorcycle clothing, coats, saddles, hats, and outdoor footwear.
Recommended application: Apply a small amount with a sponge or soft cloth to a clean, dry leather surface. Work it in with circular motions and let it sit (ideally in warmth, so the waxes can penetrate the pores more easily). Once absorbed, you can buff the surface with a dry cloth for a soft sheen.
Not intended for suede or nubuck. On lighter shades of leather, we recommend testing first on a hidden area to make sure there’s no unwanted color change.
This balm is, in my workshop, a “must-have.” If you are aiming for results worthy of a professional leather workshop, forget the cloth and try my approach instead:
The warmth of your hands: I apply the balm with my bare hand. Rubbing the leather with my palm creates just the right amount of heat, allowing the waxes to sink instantly and deeply into the pores.
Give it time to rest: Do not rush the process. Leather will absorb only as much as it needs. I apply the balm in the evening, let it “work” overnight, and in the morning wipe off any excess and polish. It is the only way to keep the leather nourished without leaving it greasy to the touch.
Combining with the emulsion: For maximum durability - for example on outdoor boots or saddles - I use a “two-step” system. First, I let the Oil Emulsion penetrate deep into the fibers, and the next day I literally “lock it in” with the balm.
Tip for dyed leather: If you are using alcohol-based dyes, apply the balm as the very final step. It not only protects the leather, but also enhances the depth of color beautifully and gives it that perfect satin sheen.
