Polyester

Material

  • Price

    Low

The most affordable option. When you need many pieces at a reasonable price, this is the right choice.

  • Strength

    Medium

Handles everyday walks and regular use. Sufficient for calm and moderately active dogs, but may deform under repeated strong pulling.

  • Water

    Salt water

Withstands even sea and salt water without damage. Go ahead with it into the sea, onto the beach or anywhere regular materials corrode or fall apart.

  • Weight

    Very light

Practically weightless. Even the smallest dog will wear it without noticing anything.

Allergy risk No risk Contains no nickel or other known contact allergens and does not release them during wear. Safe for sensitive skin without restriction.
Aging Minor changes Over time slight dulling or minor surface changes may occur. This does not affect function, but is visible on closer inspection.
Maintenance Maintenance-free No special care needed. Just rinse with water or wipe with a cloth — that is all.

What polyester is

A synthetic fibre we weave webbing from. Compared with polypropylene it is stronger, handles sunlight better and frays less.

Why we use it

Webbing for collars, harnesses and leashes, where the textile has to withstand both pulling and weather. Part of the range is waxed – the wax gives a vintage look and repels water.

When to choose it and when to look elsewhere

  • Most everyday products – a good balance of strength, price and durability.
  • Products used in sunlight – UV-stable, colours hold.

For the lowest price, reach for polypropylene; for maximum resistance to water and mud, waterproof webbing with a PVC surface.

How it ages and how to care for it

Salt and water don't affect it, and it dries fast. It can be machine washed; it dulls slightly over time.

Good to know

Polyester absorbs only a minimal amount of water – a wet strap doesn't get heavy and won't freeze solid in winter.
