Delrin

Material

  • Price

    Medium

Good price-to-performance ratio. Costs more than basic materials, but the difference in durability and appearance is noticeable.

  • Strength

    Medium

Handles everyday walks and regular use. Sufficient for calm and moderately active dogs, but may deform under repeated strong pulling.

  • Water

    Salt water

Withstands even sea and salt water without damage. Go ahead with it into the sea, onto the beach or anywhere regular materials corrode or fall apart.

  • Weight

    Very light

Practically weightless. Even the smallest dog will wear it without noticing anything.

Allergy risk No risk Contains no nickel or other known contact allergens and does not release them during wear. Safe for sensitive skin without restriction.
Aging Stable Appearance practically does not change over time. Colour, gloss and surface texture remain the same even after months of regular use.
Maintenance Maintenance-free No special care needed. Just rinse with water or wipe with a cloth — that is all.

What Delrin is

A branded acetal (POM) from DuPont – chemically the same family as our acetal, made to very tight tolerances. Delrin is to engineering plastics what YKK is to zips.

Why we use it

For parts where precision matters: clips and clasps that have to click shut the same way every time, without play or material fatigue.

When to choose it and when to look elsewhere

When you want plastic hardware with a guaranteed origin and consistency. For everyday buckles, acetal does the same job at a lower price.

How it ages and how to care for it

Stable and maintenance-free; water and salt do not affect it.

Good to know

Acetal is used to make gears in clocks and printers – a material built for millimetre precision over millions of cycles.
