    Tolerates occasional contact with fresh water — rain, puddles, brief immersion. Better to dry after being in water, otherwise it may degrade over time.

    Practically weightless. Even the smallest dog will wear it without noticing anything.

Allergy risk No risk Contains no nickel or other known contact allergens and does not release them during wear. Safe for sensitive skin without restriction.
Aging Minor changes Over time slight dulling or minor surface changes may occur. This does not affect function, but is visible on closer inspection.
Maintenance Low maintenance Occasionally wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth and the material will stay in good condition. No special products or regular routine required.

What cotton is

A natural fibre from cotton plant seeds. In our range you'll find it in webbing with anti-slip rubber – the cotton weave gives a soft, pleasant grip.

Why we use it

Cotton webbing holds its grip even when wet and does not burn the palm if it slips through. That makes it suited to training and tracking leashes.

When to choose it and when to look elsewhere

  • Hand-held leashes – the most comfortable grip of all our webbing.

Cotton absorbs water and dries slower than synthetics; don't leave a wet leash rolled up, or mould can set in. For a dog that swims, choose waterproof webbing or polyester.

How it ages and how to care for it

It can be machine washed; after washing it keeps its shape and function. The surface fuzzes slightly over time – this does not affect the grip.

Good to know

The rubber woven into cotton webbing works as a brake: the more the webbing slides in your palm, the harder the rubber grips back. That is exactly what you want when a dog lunges.
