    Natural

    No surface finish — the bare material in its natural colour and structure. Appearance depends entirely on what the part is made from.

  • Abrasion resistance

    Low

    Thin decorative coating that gradually wears through with regular wear and friction. Wear shows fairly quickly at points where buckle or snap contacts the strap, ring or fur.

  • Corrosion protection

    None

    The finish does not increase corrosion resistance. Either the underlying material does not need it, or the finish is purely aesthetic.

  • Nickel

    No

    The finish contains no nickel in any layer. A safe choice for allergy sufferers and for products intended for direct contact with sensitive skin.

Damp conditions Occasional rain Tolerates contact with water — rain, wet grass, damp hands. With regular soaking the finish ages faster and loses appearance. Better to dry after wetting.
Aging Gradually dulls Over time loses its original gloss and the tone changes slightly. This does not affect function, but the surface eventually does not look as fresh as at the start.
Process Coating Organic film — lacquer or paint — applied to the surface and cured in an oven. Thicker layer than galvanic plating, available in any colour.

How the water-based finish is made

A thin, solvent-free protective coating is applied to the leather and dries into a flexible film.

What it gives the product

Protection against surface dirt and colour rub-off, while keeping the natural look and flexibility.

When to choose it and when not to

Leather cords and strips. It offers no protection against prolonged wet – the usual rules for leather care still apply.

How it ages

The layer wears down slowly with use; keep treating the leather underneath with balm.

What it pairs with

A natural look – the finish is practically invisible on the product.
