## Description and construction

This double-pronged metal staple is the perfect piece of hardware to save you a lot of work when making leather loops for belts, bags, purses or backpacks. 

How do you use it? Simply take a #88040-01 punch, punch two holes in the ends of the leather, connect them with this staple and bend the spikes tight with a hammer. The result? ## Limits and maintenance

* Tolerates contact with water — rain, wet grass, damp hands. With regular soaking the finish ages faster and loses appearance. Better to dry after wetting.
* Provides a temporary barrier against moisture. Works well in dry environments, but protection weakens over time with regular contact with water or sweat.
* Thin decorative coating that gradually wears through with regular wear and friction. Wear shows fairly quickly at points where buckle or snap contacts the strap, ring or fur.
* At points of regular friction — typically the buckle edge, snap contact point or strap — the finish gradually wears through and the base material shows beneath.
