## Description and construction

This 120 mm snap hook made from chrome-plated zinc alloy weighs a solid 108 grams and holds up to 250 kg under load. It provides a heavy-duty foundation for stable leads, lunging lines, and heavy-duty leads for large dog breeds. For smaller dogs, however, we wouldn't recommend it at all – it's simply too heavy for them.

Material and features

    Wide gate opening (11 mm): Makes it easy to clip the snap hook onto even heavy-duty halter hardware.
    Integrated swivel eye: Prevents ropes from twisting when the animal turns sharply or changes direction.
    Smooth edges: The completely smooth inner passage protects the webbing or rope threaded through it from premature wear under daily loads.
    Piston mechanism: The classic system with an internal spring ensures quick and easy everyday handling.

Maintenance and usage notes

    Cleaning the mechanism: The chrome-plated finish handles typical weather conditions well, but once paddock mud gets into the mechanism, occasional cleaning is needed to keep the piston running smoothly.
    Releasing under load: Keep in mind that this is a standard snap hook, which cannot be opened under full load. For restless horses or training, choose panic snap hooks, which, unlike standard snap hooks, can be released instantly even under full tension.


## Limits and maintenance

* Handles typical outdoor conditions without issue — rain, mud, moisture, sweat. No need to dry or treat specially after every water contact.
* Reliably protects the underlying material during typical outdoor use — rain, dew, occasional wetting. May not be sufficient for permanently wet environments.
* Resists daily use even with active dogs. The surface holds its original appearance for a long time, even when in contact with straps, snaps or other hard surfaces.
* Over time loses its original gloss and the tone changes slightly. This does not affect function, but the surface eventually does not look as fresh as at the start.
