## Description and construction

Rustproof, heavy-duty permanent fasteners. Single cap rivets are used in places where only one side of the rivet is visible (belts, trunks, flap closure leather bags, … ).

For hand setting, the #RT/11X20X120 SS setter is used. All useful hints and tips for working with copper rivets can be found in the video below the picture.

PLEASE NOTE: These rivets from Tandy are now being sold out. A new version of copper rivets can be found under the code #RCH09.

## Limits and maintenance

* Tolerates occasional contact with fresh water — rain, puddles, brief immersion. Better to dry after being in water, otherwise it may degrade over time.
* Handles typical outdoor conditions including rain and morning dew. Does not need a protective coating for corrosion, but may react over time in more aggressive environments.
* Occasionally wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth and the material will stay in good condition. No special products or regular routine required.
* Naturally changes colour tone and surface texture. This is not a defect — it is a property of the material. The resulting patina gives the product a unique look that deepens over time.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### How do I choose the right rivet length?

The total thickness of the layers you're joining decides — add to it the shank overhang needed for spreading:

Thinner materials — a shank 1–2 mm longer than the material thickness.

Thicker materials — a shank 2–3 mm longer.

The shank length is listed for every rivet in the dimensions table as dimension B — the full range is in the Rivets & Screws category.

The hole diameter differs by material. For leather, choose a punch slightly smaller than the shank diameter — leather is elastic and grips the shank tightly. For waterproof webbing, choose a punch that matches the shank exactly; the webbing doesn't stretch, so the shank has to pass through without being forced.

A shank that's too long shows up as a rivet that deforms while spreading, or caps that don't line up.
