## Description and construction

A basic Chicago screw with nickel plated finish that has your budget in mind. Used to make belts, collars or to join material. It consists of two parts, a hollow screw with solid head and internal thread, which serves as a closed nut, and the opposite screw part to tighten up the join. The advantage of the screw connection is the ease of handling, for example, when changing belt buckles or joining two materials. The price listed is for the entire package!

Please note: the screw heads are made of a zinc alloy. For an all-metal, better quality version we recommend the #SPH-4 screws.

How to chose the correct screw length?

Whether we work with leather, webbing, or any other material, its thickness is always the deciding factor. The proper size of a Chicago screw is when the length of a screw nut (value B in the table) is 2 mm less the total thickness of a material that's being connected.

TIP: To ensure a 100% solid connection it will suffice to apply a drop of thread locking adhesive to the screw #1918997.


## Limits and maintenance

* Handles typical outdoor conditions without issue — rain, mud, moisture, sweat. No need to dry or treat specially after every water contact.
* Reliably protects the underlying material during typical outdoor use — rain, dew, occasional wetting. May not be sufficient for permanently wet environments.
* Handles normal everyday wear. At exposed points — where regular friction or contact with other metals occurs — traces of wear may appear over time.
* Over time loses its original gloss and the tone changes slightly. This does not affect function, but the surface eventually does not look as fresh as at the start.
