## Description and construction

An improved version of the metal side-release buckle #508 made from zinc alloy with a antique brass finish brings more rounded shapes, an upgraded fastening mechanism, and wider openings for more comfortable use with selected materials. Compared to plastic versions, it gives the finished product a more distinctive look and pairs well with other hardware in the same finish, allowing for a consistent color match.

The buckle features openings that are 0.5 to 1 mm wider, so our waterproof straps pass through without forcing. Load testing has also shown that this version achieves on average 30 to 50 kg higher strength than the original model. Thanks to its more rounded design, improved mechanism, and a wide range of 6 sizes, it is suitable for the production of collars, straps, backpacks, bags, and other leather goods.

How to care for the hardware

Even hardware needs basic care. Watch the video where we show how to maintain it so it keeps working for as long as possible.

Notice:

We do not recommend washing products with this hardware in a washing machine or drying them in a tumble dryer. If the product gets wet, we recommend drying it thoroughly. Prolonged exposure to moisture is not suitable for the internal fastening mechanism. At low temperatures, zinc alloy may be more sensitive to impact, so we do not recommend exposing frozen hardware to shocks or rough handling.


## Limits and maintenance

* Tolerates occasional contact with rain, wet grass or damp hands. Regular soaking accelerates visible wear, so dry the surface after it becomes wet.
* Provides a temporary barrier against moisture. Works well in dry environments, but protection weakens over time with regular contact with water or sweat.
* Thin decorative coating that gradually wears through with regular wear and friction. Wear appears first where a buckle or snap contacts the strap, ring or fur.
* The surface is intended to change over time. Its tone and texture develop with use, so each piece ages slightly differently; this variation is part of the finish rather than a defect.
