## Description and construction

A die-cast zinc alloy snap hook whose eye swivels a full 360°, so the cord, chain or strap you attach hangs straight instead of twisting. You'll most often use it on handbags, clutches, smaller bags, backpacks and keychains, and at 15 g it won't weigh them down. Check the name for the eye shape: Q after the eye width means a square eye for flat straps, no Q means a round eye for cord, chain or round leather. For a leash that takes a dog's pull, choose a leash snap hook.

## Limits and maintenance

* Tolerates occasional contact with rain, wet grass or damp hands. Regular soaking accelerates visible wear, so dry the surface after it becomes wet.
* Provides a temporary barrier against moisture. Works well in dry environments, but protection weakens over time with regular contact with water or sweat.
* Thin decorative coating that gradually wears through with regular wear and friction. Wear appears first where a buckle or snap contacts the strap, ring or fur.
* At points of regular friction (typically the buckle edge, snap contact point or strap) the finish gradually wears through and the base material shows beneath.
