High-quality, vegetable-tanned cowhide (Double Butts – Split leather) with a thickness of 2.8–3.2 mm, tanned using traditional vegetable tanning methods. Split leather originates from the lower layer of the hide, offering a high usability rate (70–89% of the surface free of defects) while retaining its natural beauty.

## Limits and maintenance

* Handles typical outdoor conditions without issue — rain, mud, moisture, sweat. No need to dry or treat specially after every water contact.
* The finish does not increase corrosion resistance. Either the underlying material does not need it, or the finish is purely aesthetic.
* Thin decorative coating that gradually wears through with regular wear and friction. Wear shows fairly quickly at points where buckle or snap contacts the strap, ring or fur.
* Over time loses its original gloss and the tone changes slightly. This does not affect function, but the surface eventually does not look as fresh as at the start.
